Can I use the Mr. Beer barrel to make Mr. Beer root beer?
I have the deluxe beer kit, and was wondering if I can use it for the refill root beer making pack.
Well, you could, but there would be no reason too. When making root beer, you just put a pot on the stove, boil the required amount of sugar and water, and add the measured amount of root beer extract needed. Then you chill it, put it in sanitized bottles (you can use the Mr. Beer bottles for this), and then add some yeast to each bottle for natural carbonation over the next couple days. With the plastic bottles, you will be able to check to see if the Root Beer is carbonating properly. You can’t do this in the Mr. Beer barrel, as it is not air tight.
