Most local and online home brew stores will sell the how to brew your own beer ”Kits” that will have all of the ingredients you will need to make the brew of your liking. Most of these kits will have a can of malt extract, a bag of yeast, a bag of hop pellets and any specialty grains that are included in the recipe.

Tons of brew supply stores online will also carry kits that include all of the necessary tools you will need to begin making you own beer. Most of the equipment you will need will be found in your home. This alone will save you money when you learn how to brew your own beer.

Here are some of the tools you will need when you learn how to brew your own beer.

A brew pot is where you will bring your brew mixture of malt extract, water and hops to a boil. A 4 or 5 gallon stainless steel brew pot should do fine for brewing your first batch.

  1. Fermenter: A fermenter is any type of container that can be used to hold the beer as it is being fermented.
  2. Funnel and Strainer: Used to help transfer the contents of your brew pot into the fermenter.
  3. Siphon Hose: Used to transfer your beer from the fermenter into the empty beer bottles.
  4. Airlock and Stopper:  Is used to prevent outside air from getting inside the fermenter.
  5. Thermometer: Used to measure the temperature of your brew during different stages of the brewing process.
  6. Bottling Bucket: Used to hold the mixture of the finished beer and the priming solution before bottling. Some bottling buckets come equipped with a spigot, making it easier to transfer the beer into bottles.

Beer Bottles and Capper: Used for the packaging and storage of your finished beer. Don’t forget to follow these important step-by-step instructions by clicking the link.
